Cal Danvers (b.1997, Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa), is a craftsperson that operates within the overlap between art and design.
They have a background as a mechanical engineer which has allowed hands on skills to transfer to their current practice of furniture design and making. Not stopping at furniture making, they consider themself a problem solver and create solutions to everyday struggles they encounter in their life, such as the need for a heavy duty apron. (As seen in the artists photograph)
Danvers cares deeply about the environment, and so sustainably sourcing materials is always in the forefront of their mind. Creating items that serve a function and have use is what Danvers typically aims towards in their work practice, these objects can be anything from bowls to side tables, chairs and bench seats to heavy duty aprons.
